About the Role: 
The Community Relations Coordinator is a key role on the Yoga Alliance team for providing exceptional customer support to the yoga community. Reporting to the Community Relations Team Lead, this role will also provide assistance and outreach to both Yoga Alliance members and the yoga-curious in support of building a representative and engaged community. Additionally, the Community Relations Coordinator regularly participates in organization-wide programming, community conversations, as well as fostering relationships within the yoga community.

 

What You Will Do:

  • Provide direct support to yoga professionals to address challenges, identify and remove barriers, create opportunities, and foster connections within the yoga community.  
  • Provide a welcoming and engaging experience in all interactions, with a primary focus on building personal connections, listening with empathy, and supporting others.  
  • Respond to the community daily through multiple channels, including email, phone, chat, text, online forums, and social media. When needed, identify and recruit a knowledgeable spokesperson or information source to assist. 
  • Educate the public on the value of Yoga Alliance membership. Represent the organization with professionalism, integrity, and exceptional service resulting in a high degree of trust.  
  • Initiate opportunities for grassroots lead generation and comprehensive feedback that captures information on specific regions and audiences to support representation and inclusion in our day-to-day work. 
  • Build and nurture relationships through proactive outreach. Identify community champions and build alliances with individuals, organizations, and other institutions, serving as a connector to increase opportunities to practice and teach yoga.
  • Maintain the community's relationship data in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software (Salesforce) accurately and timely, including reporting. 
  • Assist in Community Engagement departmental projects and document it on Monday.com.  
  • Work cross-departmentally in common objectives to serve the yoga community.
  • Coordinate and facilitate engaging community conversations, including virtual and in-person settings. Synthesize feedback and serve as the voice of the yoga community to develop valuable products, programs, and benefits.  
  • Serve as an individual contributor toward a collaborative and innovative team culture. 
  • Engage in event opportunities such as expos and trade shows that promote a global community network. 

What You Will Bring:

  • 3+ years’ experience in community relations, customer service, account management, or related field specializing in “people first” approach.
  • A passion and enthusiasm for relationship-building to increase member satisfaction and deepen relationships with individuals within the yoga community. 
  • Exercises a high degree of confidentiality and discretion, professionalism, integrity, diplomacy, ethics, and objectivity in approach to work and with relationships.

    • Strategic Thinking: Knows where to look for and is able to take disparate pieces of information and effectively synthesize to produce insights and desired outcomes. Is able to map out and execute a sound plan to achieve long-term goals. 
  • Strong technology skills with an aptitude to learn quickly to ramp up on new platforms or technology: Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Customer Relationship Management platform (e.g.Salesforce); project management platforms (e.g. Monday.com). 
  • Experience working effectively and collaboratively within a fast-paced, nimble environment among a diverse employee base that works remotely and distributed across the United States. 
  • Proven track record of contributing to work environments committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging.  
  • Proven ability to initiate and cultivate positive working relationships internally and externally across a diverse group of people at all levels and across a variety of lived experiences.  
  • Ability to attend in-person work-related events and functions, and work on-site in YA’s Arlington, VA office as needed.
  • Ability to occasionally travel locally and nationwide.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in regional languages (such as German, Portuguese or Japanese).
  • Experience working with Salesforce as a CRM solution and Association Management Systems.

Location:
Yoga Alliance is a remote-first organization, but does have an office that is open and accessible to all Yoga Alliance employees in Arlington, Virginia within sight of the historic northwest region of Washington, D.C. 

Salary Range:
$55,000 to $60,000 annually (commensurate to experience). This position is a full-time, exempt position.
